Constructed of gilded and silvered bronze with enamels, consisting of an eight pointed radiant star, the obverse with a central leftward facing German soldier within a gilded and pebbled oval wreath, within a Cross Patte with white enameled arms, with gilt crossed swords piercing the centre, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, with two visible rivets securing the obverse
